About
Megan & Shane
The short version of how a barrel sauna ended up touring Westmeath.
Sure we’ll buy the sauna and figure the rest out
That was more or less the plan. Megan and Shane bought a wood-fired barrel sauna and brought her home to Westmeath. They’re still figuring the rest out.
A bit of a makeover
She needed some work, so they gave her one, and painted her themselves. Megan comes up with the ideas. Shane works out which ones are actually possible. Somewhere in the middle, they get there.
First test run: the driveway
The first proper go wasn’t lakeside, like they’d hoped. It was Megan’s mam and dad’s driveway, both of them in their 70s, giving it a go anyway. Not quite the scenery they had in mind, but good company does the job.
ACORNS and beyond
Megan was one of 55 women selected for ACORNS 12, a programme supporting women starting and growing businesses in rural Ireland, and represented Ember & Earth at National Women’s Enterprise Day in Tyrrellspass.
Where we’re headed
The goal is simple: bring a proper wood-fired sauna to clubs, communities, events and back gardens around Westmeath.
